I was unable to listen to the entirety of this evening's broadcast of Just a Minute, as I was instructed to make an emergency stop for a bottle of chilled white wine at Tesco Express. Needs must.
At one point, if I recall correctly, Paul Merton was challenged for repetition in the phrase "It's past half past twelve". I found myself urging him most fervently to objurgate the denigrator.
As far as I am aware homonyms are acceptable within one's discourse. The uttered expression could equally have been a contraction of "It has passed half past twelve".
